The Mount Forest Patriots would like to thank the 2022-23 Coaching Staff for their efforts behind the bench this past season, leading the team to its 4th Pollock Division Championship in 6 years. We thank Head Coach, Bobby Kirby and Assistant Coach, D.J. Selkirk for their time and commitment to our players, to the organization, and to our community. Assistant Coach, Mike Orr, who has been on the bench for 6 years, will be transitioning into the position of the Patriot’s Video Coach and Coach Mentor for the 2023-24 season.
The Mount Forest Patriots are extremely excited to announce the 2023-24 Coaching Staff:
Head Coach- Zac Coulter
Assistant Coach- Troy Weber
Assistant Coach- Dean Nixon
Zac Coulter comes to the Mount Forest Patriots with an extensive resume, both as a player and as a coach. Zac was drafted by the Owen Sound Attack (#221) in 2011. He played for the Owen Sound Greys and then went on to play four seasons with the Elmira Sugar Kings (Jr. B). Being a part of the Cherrey Cup Championship team in 2014, Zac has proven that he knows what it takes to win! After his Junior career, Zac went on to play 4 seasons with the University of Waterloo Warriors. Most recently, Zac has spent the past 2 seasons as an Assistant Coach for the Listowel Cyclones Jr. B organization, while playing Senior AA for the Durham Thundercats. We welcome Zac to the Patriot’s family!
We welcome Troy Weber back to the Patriot’s family, this time as an Assistant Coach. After playing 6 years AAA with the Grey Bruce Highlanders, Troy came home to play for the Mount Forest Patriots. Troy played for four seasons, from 2016-2020, where he was part of 3 Pollock Division Championship teams. Since graduating from the PJHL, Troy has played Senior AA hockey for the Durham Thundercats. Over the past 7 years, Troy has been working his way up the coaching ranks as a coach with Mount Forest Minor hockey. We are thrilled to have Troy back with the organization. Once a Pat, always a Pat!
We also welcome Dean Nixon back to the Mount Forest Patriots. Dean played for the Patriots for 3 seasons, from 2011-2014. After his PJHL career, Dean went on to play Senior AA for the Durham Thundercats for 8 seasons, from 2015-2023. Dean is passionate about coaching. He brings with him 12 years of coaching experience with West Grey Minor Hockey, and a true passion to win! Another Pats player that is giving back to our organization! Welcome back, Dean!
